At Dragonfly Studios, we don’t focus on technique or perfection.
We guide girls through creative processes that build confidence, voice, innovation and leadership from the inside out.
Through inquiry, playful exploration, and hands-on art experiences, girls learn to:
Speak up and share their ideas
See new perspectives
Solve problems creatively

Take initiative
Through art, girls learn to lead and trust themselves.
Spring Creative Lab & Summer Art Camps
Dragonfly Studio Summer Camps: Half-Day Camps 9am-1pm
Monday–Thursday / Age-grouped sessions
Summer at Dragonfly is immersive, colorful, and full of creative energy and excitement. Each themed week invites girls to build, paint, layer, sculpt, stitch, and experiment — with the time and space to dive deep into their ideas.
Campers might construct miniature environments (like museums or zoos), design wearable art, collaborate on large-scale pieces, or explore mixed media in new ways. This summer, we’re especially excited to introduce a new “Art as Kindness” week — an experimental offering where creativity becomes a gift, and girls use art to contribute beauty and encouragement to our wider community.
Projects often grow across multiple days, allowing campers to explore boldly, adjust when things don’t go as planned, and watch their ideas come to life in surprising ways.

Located in picturesque Ashland, Oregon. Art at Dragonfly Studios is more than an activity—it’s a journey of discovery. Campers find inspiration not only in nature but in the artists they study, the materials they touch, the colors they mix, and the stories they carry. Their own lived experiences, thoughts, and emotions become part of the creative process, shaping work that is both deeply personal and wildly imaginative. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, they explore new techniques while honoring their unique perspectives.
Whether indoors or out, Dragonfly Studios fosters a sense of wonder, creativity, and connection, offering a space where young artists can explore, express, and grow.

Enhance Her Wellbeing: Engaging in creative activities like Process Art can have positive effects on children's mental and physical health. It can reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve mood. Additionally, the sensory experience of working with art materials can be calming and therapeutic.camps run 9am-2pm
Promote Her Problem-Solving Skills: Through Process Art, children learn to experiment, make choices, and solve problems creatively. They explore different materials, techniques, and ideas, which enhances their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Encourage Self-Expression and Confidence: Process Art focuses on the creative process rather than the end result, allowing children to freely express themselves without the pressure of creating a perfect or "correct" piece of art. This freedom fosters a sense of autonomy and self-expression, contributing to their social-emotional development.
“Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.”
— Sydney Gurewitz Clemens

Dragonfly Studio is For Girls Who…
Empowering Girls Through Art: Meet Camp Directors, Andrea and Lisa.
Welcome to Dragonfly Studios art camps and classes for girls! We’re delighted to introduce ourselves as the co-directors of this creative community. I’m Andrea Matteson, and alongside me is my wonderful mother, Lisa Wiebe. Together, we lead Dragonfly Studios with a shared vision: to create a space where girls grow not only as artists, but as confident, capable young leaders.
My background includes coaching executives and professional leaders, training in expressive and therapeutic arts, and — perhaps most importantly — raising two daughters of my own. Over the years, I’ve felt deeply called to integrate the psychology of the creative experience into the way we support girls’ development.
Through hands-on projects, collaboration, and joyful experimentation, girls strengthen resilience, problem-solving, and confidence. When paint drips, clay collapses, or ideas don’t go as planned (which happens all the time!), they learn flexibility, perseverance, and creative thinking in real time.
Dragonfly Studios is intentionally low-tech and screen-free — a sensory, embodied space where girls can slow down, engage their emotions, and discover more of who they are. We know that even at ages six, seven, and eight, many girls feel pressure, perfectionism, and anxiety. Here, they are invited to breathe, create, take risks, and simply be.
Drawing from our combined experiences, education, and passions, we’ve designed a program that is enriching, meaningful, and joy-filled. At Dragonfly Studio, creativity becomes a pathway to leadership, friendship, and self-trust — all wrapped in laughter, color, and community.
We can’t wait to welcome you.
See you at camp! xoxo
Andrea + Lisa
